Our first three days in Florence were pretty cold and rainy. We dodged the dampness with time in the Accademia (to see the David) and the Uffizi (amazing Botticelli's) and just got wet the rest of the time. One day it stopped raining for sunset. We tried to make it up to Pizzale Michelangelo but were a little late for the sunset. We did catch an amazing view of the city just after with great clouds (the photos from my camera are even better - will post once we get back home).
Yesterday we took the bus to Siena (where we arguably had the best pizza of the trip) and then to San Gimignano (holy amazing views of Tuscany - photos don't come close to capturing it).
Today we took the train to Cortona. We walked, up hill, for three hours to get to Le Celle (St. Francis' retreat) and then back-tracked bit to get back to Cortona for gelato and a great dinner in a cool cellar.
We are now on the train back to Florence for our last night there before we head to Sorrento...
