In Frisco we got up early (thanks to Summit) and made our way to town for breakfast at the Butterhorn Cafe.
It was a nice morning so we went back to get Summit for a walk around the lake, which turned into a walk through town. At the edge of town we found a trailhead and decided to take it for a little while and see where it took us. We ended up climbing over 1,400 feet straight up and ended up here.
One of the toughest hikes I've done but fun to have a day in the mountains with no plans so you can spontaneously end up on top of a mountain. The 3 mile walk home from the base of the mountain was a little rough after this unexpected adventure but what a great day!
This is the mountain we accidentally summited - at the edge of Frisco's main street.
After a quick trip home to drop off Summit with some friends we headed back up to explore the town of Crested Butte.
What a beautifully secluded mountain town full of great food and amazing views! We hiked, mountain biked and enjoyed exploring this funky little town.

BEAUTIFUL.... And fun.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great getaway. You two certainly deserved it. Cant wait until the next time I get to come out and visit beautiful Colorado!
