The last few weeks have been pretty busy. My mom and dad have been in town staying with us and we've been cooking, hiking, working and a few get togethers with friends.

Summit and Mom continued to bond.

We met up with an old New Jersey friend at the Farmer's Market.

Dad and I hiked to the top of Mt. Sniktau. Where we started, the Continental Divide at 11,990 feet.

On the way up with Grays (a fourteener) in the background.

At the top -
13,234 feet! Dad signing the register.

View of Grays and the lake below.

View to the West (notice how tiny the Eisenhower Tunnel looks).

View of Breckenridge in the distance.

We stopped at a sandwich/pizza/coffe shop in Georgetown on the way back for a little lunch. I've been here many times on the way back from the mountains and have never noticed the Sniktau sandwich. We had to get to get it in honor of our climb.

That night we went out to Vine Street for a low-key celebration of my parent's anniversary.

Mike and Dad split a pitcher of one of their home-brews.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Goofy Dad :)

Our small group had a BBQ the next night. I was in charge of bringing a dessert. Mike requested dirt and it was a big hit!

3:00am and a bunch of us were still there hanging out. a good night.

We also went to the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument west of Colorado Springs. They showed the geology and were they find insect fossils. This section is only open a couple hours a day (to minimize erosion). We were there right at the end so Mike and Dad helped cover the excavation site.

Petrified red woods - apparently the climate in Colorado used to be very different and huge redwoods used to grow here. They were petrified by a volcano.

After we stopped for a quick hike. We had to get back to Denver and were on a time crunch. Dad wanted to get as far as we could and practically ran the steep trail.

But we made it to this view of Pikes Peak just before we had to turn back.

Mom and Dad's last night we went out for a sunset dinner on the roof of Lansdowne Arms.

It was a great vist and a great last night to cap it off!

Last night we had some friends over for a pizza and game night. It was another great late night.
Love the post! Thanks for an update. I am so excited about your small group and your great visit with Mom and Dad. I cannot wait for our trip to Florida this week! You also look amazing by the way. I think you look esp good in the "time crunch" photo. Cant wait to see you in person.
